Importing Consoles, Games & Accessories? DUTY RATE & VAT

if they came from france then they are within the European Economic Community and there will be no fees associated with importation. You will either pay VAT in the source country or provide your VAT registration documents and account for it in your quarterly return in the host country. You clearly are not getting them from France if you think this is the case.

What? I was dealing with 2 aspects of what was said to me 1) being that I don't deal in DVDs and 2) that personal use is not irrelevent when it comes to VAT/Duty as an item can be a gift with a value of 36 quid or below!

fair enough. I just don't understand the reference to personal use when you said your goods came from within the EEC. It is totally irellevant.

How do you actually declare and import? Do fill out a form?

The amount is declared by the sender. They are required to fill out a form with the details of the package and its value.
