Default Full value/tax declaration

Hi all, just wondering if anyone has had the issue of a wholesaler not declaring the full value of items when shipping and also declaring the VAT on said items?

Happens all the time, unfortunately. Call HMRC and arrange for another invoice to be faxed to them. Its nothing new, mainly because they believe their doing you a favour by lowering the value.

I had a package over-declared last Monday, believe it or not.

Well there is an invoice which is attached to the package, this presumably contains an incorrect value? You are required to send an invoice with the correct amount, so you can pay VAT and import duties on the right amount. My suppliers have always faxed an invoice to HMRC when asked to, you may well be able to do it yourself though.

Will the HMRC be ok about re-invoicing,or do they take a dim view of it?

Never experienced it before, so I shouldn't think you would either. You're being honest about it, which is more then can be said for many. Mistakes happen, suppliers get it wrong, so just explain the situation and I'm sure they'll help you to resolve it.

From experience, I've found HMRC to be very helpful on the whole (not just for import related issues).
