Default Help On Vat Registration

Heya Guys.

Well this is my first proper business so I am going to need some help with Vat Registration.

I want to get a Trade Account on http://www.maccess.co.uk/ but they are asking for my VAT Registration Certificate and a Business Card. How do I get this? And I am an Online Business, Do I have to go and get a card made especially?

Question 2. When they ask for my business address can I just give them my home address? as thats where I work.

Question 3. Do you think they will accept? As I dont have alot of money so I cant go spending £1000's on them each month. Probably £500 a month maximum.

Question 4. They want a company registration number! How do I get this?

Cheers
Mathmos

Hi if you ring them up and explain that you are working from home I am sure that should be ok and as for the vat no are you reg for vat? if not again explain this to them I order from Englan a lot and though I vat reg here in Ireland I know that most of the companies that I contact said it was fine If I did not have a vat number I would just have to pay the vat myself. Been vat reg you can claim some it back and as for the business card run one of on your computer if you dont want to be wasting money. Finally have they got a mim order cause if they do ( most place have 50 to 100 sterling mim) you will have to order that amount and no you dont have to order each month only when needed

Like mumof3angles said give them a phone call tomorrow morning and explain your situation, they may not allow you a trade account because your not regestered with companies house, your just have to pay for your stock upfront. But if you wanna go legit which i would reccomend go see an accountant, they will give you all the advise you need.

I am still at school so I cant really go and see an account etc.

Does It cost money getting VAT registered and getting your company registered?

Im not sure how it would work with you still at school, because you cant sign any credit agreements with a company if your under 18 yrs old. But you can be a director of a ltd company (which makes no sense to me). You would have to speak to an accountant if forming a ltd company or going vat registered, they will give you the best advise!!!

Just fill in the form without putting reg number in - be honest and fill in what you can.

many businesses trade without being vat registered. If they dont want to deal with someone whith such low turnover, try somewhere else

Mathmos how did you get on? If you had no joy with them try www.thetrader.co.uk and see if you can find someone else that will accept you with out the vat number. Just be carefull and also post a thread here if you are not sure and I know most of the people here will gladly point you in the right direction

I emailed them about me working at home and I belive they understood as they said I could apply.

On the application I have to fill out, what do I fill out in the section which says "Trade Refrences"

Its asking for Name,Address,Phone Number ECT. Is this me? I am confused as I have already written down my details twice already, for the company adress and for the Sole Proprietor Details.
