I am importing shoes from China to sell on ebay.

What does inbound into customs mean and how long does it take for a shippment to leave customs?

In my USPS tracking status, I have had the following message since nov.12th is :
" INBOUND INTO CUSTOMS " Inbound International Arrival, November 12, 2008, 11:14 am, ISC CHICAGO IL (USPS).

It is being shipped from china through USPS (EMS 3-7days) Its 6 pairs of UGG boots, the seller told me that they are authentics!. if they are counterfeit? . Will this matter either?
If eventually I get a letter from US Customs explaining that they have seized the shoes and it will be destroyed.
"I will also may get a letter from the brand owner threatening legal action and all kinds of other demands is this true??" (someone post this info here)
I have imported these under my personal name, I am a US imigrant with a green card and a bit scared!
** Any advise would be appreciated!

You cant buy branded goods from China, they will not be authentic. If they are seized i doubt you will get anything except a letter telling you that your goods have been seized and destroyed as you have only bough 6 pairs.

Don't be fooled again!

Hello there! I am in the same boat! I placed an order of 10 pairs on December 3rd and the order was inbound into customs. Until today, the order still in customs. I can tell you what is going to happen.
1)You will get a letter from customs in about 2 months
2)They will tell you that it appears to them that this items are counterfeits.

3)They will ask you for an exact amount of money as tax to release the merchandise.
4)They will give you several options in which you may choose not to respond at all or respond to one option if you like.
5)There is a 99.9% chance that these merchandise is not authentic. therefore they ask you if you want your case to be transferred to the State Attorney.
6)They will ask you if you have the owner's right to import this merchandise.
7)If you choose not to respond to any of the choices listed in the letter, they say that if they don't hear from you within 30 days, they will place a notice in the paper and after the dead line if you don't respond, the merchandise will be destroyed.

All this sounds very scary, my advise to you? NEVER use your real name when importing anything from China. You an use a nick name or a company name.
Don't worry about the letter, don't respond to any of the options. When they don't hear from you, they will destroy the merchandise. Period! Don't worry about it.

My order is stuck in customs and I know what is going to happen. So, I am not worried. I already filed a complaint with Pay Pal to get all the money I paid the seller. I know I won't get the merchandise. I will not pay any amounts the Customs want to impose.
So, I know they will keep the merchandise.
