I am going to order a container from egypt. Can someone tell me how it will work?will I have to sort out a freight agent?or if my supplier in egypt finds a freight agent for me, then will i have to sort something out here so i can recieve the container at the uk port?

Help needed.

The supplier can probably arrange shipping through a local agent...... door to door is easiest.... you will be liable for documentation [usually sorted by shipper], tax [including vat on shipping costs] and duties.... it will arrive at your designated address and you will have a limited time to unload it.... make sure all the necessary documents are in order.... a charge is levied for every day delayed.

My suggestion is that you have your supplier quote you under DDP terms and FOB terms. Then contact a forwarder in your area and ask them for a quote from FOB origin and compare the two...

Often suppliers will push to use their agent as they'll either get a kickback from their local forwarder or be able to hide some more profit for them inside the shipping charges....
