Yes so do we it's called VAT, there are extra duty charges depending on the item being imported.

Something else to take into consideration when posting questions on a public forum - guess who else takes a great interest in reading all such posts on forums like this one and many others? That's right, HMRC and even the Police have people who read and study lots of chat rooms and forums so be careful what you say as it might come back to bite you!

If you read the contents of similar posts we encourage members to pay their taxes, however there is nothing illegal about reducing your tax bill, it's the minority that don't pay any tax at all we have to worry about.

I agree totally - it was a friendly warning to anyone thinking of posting anything regarding avoiding paying tax or getting 'around it' somehow!

That is not something we would permit to happen.

Hi. I would like to know if customs tax is calculated on just the price of goods or is shipping cost included.

In the UK, Customs Tax is based on "landed value" of goods -which would therefore include any delivery/carriage costs.

Can anyone help me here? Ive read what has been said about import and customs. I am a UK registered company and VAT registered. If i import an item say with a value of 600euros which is ex vat. What would happen when it gets to the UK border? I would pressume i would not get charged VAT if that was being sold on to end-user or if i did get charged i would claim it back but is there any other charges i should be aware of on the 600 euro item? (i.e. import tax? and if so how much?)

Many thanks to anyone who can advise...
