Just received a parcel via UPS.

Only a small package but i have a few similar ones coming in the next few days again with UPS which has got me wanting to make sure i am not being over charged.

Goods are worth $399.90 and that is declared value on invoice.

The import VAT i have been charged is £52.91 (plus brokerage fee etc)

How on earth have they got to that figure?

Anyone spread any light on this?

because you have the import duty, so that 2.63 (£263 converted from $399 x the import duty % = the amount plus the other fee

whiuch comes to 52£

I am solely talking about VAT. Import VAT was £52.91 (i then had other charges on top which i am not disputing) the items i am importing do not have any duty.
