Hoping someone can give me a quick heads-up:

1) If goods are imported into the UK from France, the seller in France charges me VAT, but there is no VAT or import duty to pay in the UK.
Then when I sell the goods in the UK, I charge VAT and claim back what I paid to the French supplier?

2) If goods are imported into the UK from Canada, then the calculation would be :
Cost of goods + freight = landed cost
add import duty
add VAT on landed cost + import duty

have I got it right?
