so if im right with this, as long as the items i have bought to incur the vat charges are to do weith my business, and as long as i keep the notice of charge ie a letter from parcel force statign they have my items and stating what the charges are, i just need to contact them at a period of time to get the amount knocked off the vat i then owe them? correct !

Didn't understand a word of that!
You can not claim the VAT charges back unless you are VAT registered.

Well once you are registered, but the goos, pay the VAT and claim it back on your next VAT return.

Great Guide.
Now I don't have to worry. HM Revenue site is so confusing, it's easy to get lost and confused. But this guide cleared it up. Thanks Malcom

Hey,
So if I import games as a private buyer and not a registered business from the USA, how do I got about paying Customs duty and VAT?
Thanks,

If your shipments sent by courier (DHL, Fedex etc..) they'll clear it through customs and pay on your behalf. Then they'll bill you plus a small admin fee.
