yeah its normally parcel force with me especially if its from the states. they hold the items from what i remember for 30 days then if you don't arrange for delivery ie pay for them for them to bring it to you then they will sell the items for repayment.

I ordered a lot from china using a delivery company called EMS I never once got charged any of the above. Though I did place an order and got ups to deliver and I payed at the door for that delivery. What I can work out is from a lot of threads is being up front a honest with every deal you do does eat into any profit you make

Why is it that when i order goods from a China dropshipper, not once have I or my customers had to pay import tax or anything?

If I start my own business, and my turn over is less than £61000 a year, do I still have to register for VAT?

If the goods are below 30 quid then I believe they won't be hit for VAT etc.

No you don't have to register for VAT if you're below the threshold you just mentioned. But you can register for flat rate VAT. I'm not even going to try and explain flat rate VAT but you can find out about from the HMRC website. Registering for flat rate VAT can be advantageous for business that don't turn over a lot but want to deal with other VAT registered businesses...I think???

good guide malcolm
but i have 2 questions...
1. How much does it cost to register for VAT.

2. say the courier flies into the UK at heathrow, would the items be held at heathrow until i pay the duty, does that mean i have to travel down to heathrow from leeds (4 hour journey), or can i pay via the net/over the phone.

Thanks
Vik
