did a search and could find a definitive answer:
i'm planning to import ipods from the usa and am not sure what duties/taxes (and how much) i will have to pay to the uk
any help will be appreciated

17.5% vat plus duty (think its 3.5%)

actually the other way around, duty first then VAT, it does actually make a slight difference as you are paying the 17.5% on a slightly higher figure.

Yes you will be paying the duty on the CIF price, cost, insurance, freight. Then VAT on the CIF+ Duty.
