EORI Number

Hi,

Does anybody else have an EORI number?

What is it used for and what are the benefits?

If you are importing now, you HAVE to have one. It basically keeps tabs on you for customs & excise. They see what you are bringing into the country and can tie up duty and vat invoices with vat returns etc.

Its of no benefit to you really (other than your goods are likely to be stalled at customs until you get one)

They "say" around 7 working days. Took us around that timescale. If your VAT registered you dont need one they use your VAT number apparently!

Yes, but we werent VAT registered when we needed the EORI number for imports. Now we are VAT registered therefore the EORI number is relativley useless apparently. But you are best speaking with HMRC as im no VAT man!

It has changed since the end of July - you need an EORI number regardless of VAT registration now. In fact, your VAT number actually forms part of the EORI number now
