Mobile Phones Confiscated for lack of Svivel
Hello
Did it happen before ?
Just happenned to me that certain number of i68+ were confiscated by customs for not having svivel license
Any input highly appreciated

Sorry for spelling error ,it should be "Sisvel"
Customs in Poland claim that if the mobile phone or any other equipment which is able to play MP3 or MP4 ,should have license from Sisvel, if not get confiscated,from what I have heard so far it is very rare case.

yeah it happens, but rarely.
Strictly anything that can play MP3 or MP4 should be licensed by Sisvel. Just bad luck.

Sisvel actually own the patent for the MP3 algorithm, along with many others such as DVB

Heheheh i have heard about it a lot of times and .. it happens only in Poland  ) as the customs in there are lovely there's not much you can do about it as sisvel licence must be provided by your supplier (there isnt many in china who has it) basiclly it is patern on mp3 and mp4 products held by philips and to get it from them would cost you around 5k $$ + i think 5usd per unit. This is the list of those who has the pattern:

Without it you wont be able to get your items back . How many units did you loose?

I noticed that it only happens in this "LOVELY LAND" fortunately only 39 ,not only customs questioned license for sisvel but also took picture of the phone questioning if it not violated iphone license.
It was sent by UPS of course UPS staff highly not helpfull as usual in this land of law, now I have to come up with another route for shipping them from China
