Do UPS/DHL take care of VAT/DUTY for you?
I'm about to order a shipment of goods from China (iphone accessories) to Ireland. I'm not registered for VAT. I have no intention of trying to dodge VAT or Customs Duty, but I am having trouble finding out what the process is for paying it. I just spoke to somebody at customs in Ireland and they said that if the goods are being delivered by a courier such as UPS or DHL, then they will usually pay the customs duty and then bill the customer. Is this how it works, and if so do they also do the same with VAT?
Would love to hear from someone with experience of customs in Ireland but I'm sure it's pretty similar to UK customs..
