I'm usually a lurker but I signed up here a couple of days ago and have thoroughly enjoyed the couple of hours I have spent browsing the posts. there is so much info that is just interesting to browse through, even if it is not relevant to my specific needs at the moment. It is all about building a broad base of knowledge, I'm not looking for a get rich quick scheme (but I wouldn't say no if you can spoonfeed me one ) and have ideas I just need some input on how to develop them and perhaps a lesson in being objective rather than subjective about my product choices.
Anyhow I look forward to gaining from the forum and who knows - maybe one day I'll have something to contribute.

Take a look at the marketplace in these very forums and you will see lots of goods from many sellers including myself which can be bought for stock or dropshipped for you if you don't have a lot of capital.

Look in the advertsing and e-commerce section and you will find plenty of guys able to offer advice or help you set up a web site or an ebay shop

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that I believe most lurkers are newbies looking for that magical supplier of high-end branded products at super low prices. People are just very insecure by nature. Too frightened to not only participate, but do real business. Fear of failure/ridicule is what tends to keep most back.

That's why newbies only seem to look for high end products. They only want what they know will definitely sell (in their minds anyway). Too afraid of buying/selling unbranded, low-end items. They don't realise that the real profits is in the low-end/unbranded goods. High ended goods are expensive with very low profit margins and too much competition. They have put their fear in the wrong things.

Just simple interaction on this site with others would help them see differently, and see reality. See what actually makes money and what doesn't, as well as how to go about it. What's the worst that could happen by introducing yourself and asking basic questions? Or asking about any ideas you have?

You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. So if you're a newbie, i would say...just go for it. Ask, post and interact. I'm more than glad I did. I have learnt so much, learnt from the experiences of others. Although not making any money yet...i have got things in the works, i have a better idea of how to plan and go about doing business. I understand more clearly what is involved etc. And in return (although i can't much of the time) i want to give back by trying to help others where i can.

Okay so here it goes...

I'm a 26 year old mom of 2 girls. I live in NYC and I'm very eager to learn everything there is to learn about the dropshipping/wholesale business. For the past few months I've been racking my brain trying to figure out what business to start. This seems fun and exciting. Hope to learn alot from the experts. Thats all for now.

Welcome.

Nice to have you here. You know, I was in a similar position as just a matter of weeks ago, I mean in terms of what to sell. I had no clue.

But what I realised is that, I did have ideas, just didn't know it at the time. I think what you need to do to is begin with is pick something you are already familiar with. Is there anything that you have familiarity with or a good level of knowledge about? It could be anything, sports/fitness, electronics, it could be an interest or hobby you have.

It's always easier to get into an industry/field you are already familiar with. If you have an interest in that field, it will make things far more easier. Because you have an interest, it would mean that doing research, learning and familiarising yourself with that topic could be more interesting and enjoyable. You will have better creativity and will find yourself thinking up ideas much more easily.

Maybe others could kindly provide some guidance?

Regards,
Naveed.
