Thumbs up Glad I found this site. - Tips / Advice please??

Hi all,

I'm doing some research to set up an internet business, (trading, re-selling).

I hate E-bay because it seems to be the only place people buy from now, (I don't actually hate it i'm a frequent user but you can see my point). I did have a website running along-side a small crafts business I set-up but I found getting traffic to it impossible, and, If I sold on Ebay the fees from that and PAYPAL killed me off.

Anyway i'd like to try again and have found this forum more help than anything else so far! It's nice to finally find some like-minded genuine people who are prepared to help newbies like myself start a business.

I have found 2 options so far and would be grateful for opinions:

1) - buying pallets for re-sale, have been looking at www.********.co.uk, (if anyone has dealt before please let me know). The drawback with this is that the type of stuff they sell is not likely to make a profit on E-bay. Perhaps fine for car-boots etc but that's not my real aim.

2) - Importing - The trouble with this is I no nothing about it, (although I have found useful info on this forum) and that I only have a small amount to invest, (around £1000).

-
What I would like to do is find something I can make a profit from selling on E-bay and then use that to gain traffic to my web-site which will give me a lot more options. But so far I haven't found anything that I can start with my miniscule investment.

Any tips/advice will be gratefully received.

Thanks, John.

I'm not sure that buying pallets is the best solution.....you may be dissapointed with what you'll get!! From what I've read on this forum, most of the time you'll get bad quality products and you'll only be able to resell something like 20% because the rest wouldn't be good!!
Also, before to start spending your money, I would suggest you read as much as possible on the forum, and then you'll have a better idea of what you want to do!! Just, better to take your time and be sure what you are doing!!

Thanks all, nice to feel welcome. I will take on board all your advice and although i'm desperate to get started I don't intend to rush in to anything.
One thought occurs, If there are others out there with only a small amount of capital like myself it may be a good idea for us to get together to make a bulk purchase.

Thanks again.

hi welcome. dropshipping will be a better idea than buying pallets. although profit margins aint that great, what i have found is that dropshipping along side with a few items which you can buy in bulk to sell. this will help increase your capital and eventually to can just buy in bulk. and yes group buys is a good idea for people with limited capital like us.

all the best with the research and getting started.
