1. You accidentally enter your password on the microwave.

2. You haven't played solitaire with real cards in years.

3. You have a list of 15 phone numbers to reach your family of three.

4. You e-mail the person who works at the desk next to you.

5. Your reason for not staying in touch with friends and family is that they don't have e-mail addresses.

6. You pull up in your own driveway and use your cell phone to see if anyone is home to help you carry in the groceries.

7. Every commercial on television has a web site at the bottom of the screen.

8. Leaving the house without your cell phone, which you didn't have the first 20 or 30 (or 60) years of your life, is now a cause for panic and you turn around to go and get it.

10. You get up in the morning and go on line before getting your coffee.

11. You start tilting your head sideways to smile.

12. You're reading this and nodding and laughing.

13. Even worse, you know exactly to whom you are going to forward this message.

14. You are too busy to notice there was no # 9 on this list.

15. You actually scrolled back up to check that there wasn't a #9 on this list.

And now U R laughing at yourself.

What a hoot!

At least we don't have to worry about getting to grips with the video programmer now though, the wonderful S*y+ does it for us! (Hope that's OK to say, I seem to remember we are not allowed to include the 'actual' name of the great satellite provider!)

Interestingly, Google Adwords banned ALL my adverts that included the word "Sky", on the basis that it's a registered trademark. Cool. I'm going to register "the", then see how they manage. Anyway, I now mention "Sky" whenever I get the opportunity. I reckon that it will dilute its effectiveness so the only way Sky will get its adverts popping up is to pay!

I still have a problem as to how I can advertise a Sky remote control, a Sky Digibox, a Sky minidish etc. without breaching the alleged trademark regulations (which is bullsh;t of course but that's how Google works).

Meanwhile my site continues to appear near the top of relevant searches so why would I want to pay?

The sky is overcast here and it's snowing. Don't you just hate a grey sky?

By the way, the SKY+ Digibox is notoriously unreliable.

Too right. Ours is amazing when it works but we've already had one replaced and the new one seems to have a mind of its own.

Sod paying for more crap with Sky+ to be honest. I just downgraded my package because I did not watch anything on the film channels and I only watched wrestling on the sports channels. They used to have such good films coming on all the time. But now they just seem to put crap ones on all the time, repeat them like mad and only stick 1 or 2 good films on per month.

Only reason I think the sky+ is good for is getting rid of the adverts. And I would love to stop them damn 118 ads over E4 when they put Lost and Shameless on. They are the most anoying gits ever!

Have to agree. I've had Sky+ for 18 months and although I do get a lot of use from it (rather, my wife gets a lot of use from it) the number of times it's erased all the recordings or buggered up during Live Pause is now uncountable.

I confess that I watch mostly BBC and ITV. From that point of view my Sky (minimal) subscription is a waste except that my wife likes to watch the "Living" channel.

However, I have an ElGato EyeTV 410 Freeview tuner connected to one of my Apple Macs and a www.tvtv subscription (free for 1 year). Using this combination, I can set it to record programmes automatically up to 2 weeks in advance. I can view them on my 19" TFT monitor or I can burn a DVD. I can also edit the recordings (strip out adverts) and I can also save them as MPEG files.

If you can't afford a Mac then you probably can't afford an EyeTV tuner either. However, maybe you can scrape together some pennies for the equivalent FireDTV tuner?

It allegedly works with Windoze but I can't vouch for its capabilities or reliability.

There are also cheaper tuners available but they tend to require a very strong Freeview signal. I tried one here and it didn't work.

I'm not sure if I'm relieved to know we're not the only ones, or even more concerned about the unreliability! Despite it's annoying habits, I'd hate to be without it now... it's just so utterly convenient. I agree it's well overpriced though, especially given some of the tripe that is on... but on balance, worth it to whizz past the ads!

I did this once, but not because of groceries. It was raining hard and I didn't want to get soaked whilst fumbling with my keys so I called and asked for the door to be opened, ready for me to run in from the driveway!

Great post Bradley, and Yes I did miss #9 and scrolled back then started laughing

As for Sky, I don't see the point. We watch the 5 free channels and that's more than enough. The only thing is that my aerial needs to be changed. We have a Sky minidish left from the previous tenants but that seems to be of no use without a box. As for freeview, I refuse to pay more than £20 for a brand new box and until it drops to that, I am not buying it
