I am getting very cheesed off with aol lately. I have not been able to view certain sites or even log into my msn account lately.

I decided to call their call centre today and was diverted to an overseas call centre. The geeza who I was speaking to about my concern did not seem to understand what I was trying to explain to him despite using lay mans terms. He provided what he assumed was a solution and told me to wait for 1 hour, which I automatically assumed was bulls manure. I gave him the benfit of the doubt and my doubts where confirmed.

I explained to the geeza during the call that microsoft said it was a router problem. The muppet guided me through what he believed needed to be done and then he mentioned that I will be able to get online I then told the professional muppet that the problem was not my inability to get online, but to visit certain sites. He said that would also be a resolution. Now I cant even visit a few sites which I was able to visit whilst doing some online research. I wish those call centre guys will just clean their wax infested ears and listen and stop making problems worse.

I am going to call them again and this time the next geeza is not going anywhere until it is resolved even if it means him staying on the phone for an hour.

I last used AOL in 1998 because of their awful service.

Get an ISP with call centres in the UK. Sadly the overseas staff don't seem to be properly trained and are simply unable to have a two way conversation.

I fell out with Tisc4ali a year or so ago. I phoned their head office in London and made just that complaint. The guy's response? "Why would you want to have a two way conversation?" Yes - he really said that. I'm now with Nildram.

Assoles On Line gave us so many problems that we had to alter our shopping cart software to prevent people from entering an AOL address.

It might seem stupid to turn away customers but AOL users were less than 1% of our customer base but caused 80% of the hassle with "I didn't receive your emails/order confirmation" and also clicking "Delete as Junkmail" by mistake!

If you are just trying to view certain sites then why not try one of the proxy sites.

There are a few around that have been set up to allow people to view facebook or myspace from work or school where these sites are normally banned..

Sorry dont have any urls handy , use google and see what you can find..

Cheers force.

I consider myself lucky that my ebay business is not in full swing yet as I have used my hotmail account for my paypal. It would have been a nightmare.

I am going to look into changing service providers as this is not worth all the hassle. I called again but was on hold for a while and then decided to hang up before my head exploded with their stupid music. I did not call in to listen to music I called to speak to one of thier so called advisors.

See anyone that isnt serious enough about their business to have a proper domain and use it for their email addy worries me a little.

not sure if aspiringmogulonline.com is still available, but at $9 it has to be worth investing in , you can then have aom@aspiringmogulonline.com , paypal@aspiringmogulonline.com etc etc..

It is also a good idea to have at least a couple of email addys in your paypal account.

AOL are an absolute nightmare
After 13 months of non-stop hassle (e-mail compatibility problems, server changes...etc), I finally had the sense to ditch them two days ago.
I strongly advise any perseverance junkies to do the same.

A word of warning though.

Make sure you get a mac transfer code from them when you quit. I was in such a huff, I didn't get one, and they refused to give me one an hour later when I realised that I'd need it to switch to a new Broadband provider.

The upshot is, that I now have to manage with dial-up until AOL decide to clear my line.
Still, I've had two slow, but nevertheless hassle-free days of dial-up.

I've been with BT broadband for a few years now, using one of their small business packages I and can't really fault the service I've received. I've had the occasional blip, but whenever I have telephoned their call centres, I've received prompt and good quality support.

Every so often, they give me a call offering to slightly lower the monthly price if I renew for a further year. It always seems like a good deal, so I've continued to renew and benefit from a small saving.
