Circuit City went on liquidation sales just a few days ago.

It is the 2nd largest electronic stores in the US. The top one is Best Buy.

The world economy is on recession now.

But all those pound shops will become healthier as many other shops close but the £1 shops poundlands will withhold all obsticales and still survive strong due to the prices are cheap...!! and never close down.

It does look like hard times lie ahead. I read an interesting article the other day about experts predicting Great Britain to be a third world country by 2012. Is slightly worrying, would be hard to see it happening but at this rate anything is possible.

Not all bad news, Primarks sales are up for 4% and like biggie said the pound shops are going to sail though I expect. Lidl, Aldi and Iceland are on the up which isn't good news for the larger companies like Tesco's, Asda etc.

I'm hoping for something special from Obama tomorrow much like Roosevelt did the last time the world was in this state...

Slightly recover the economy and then get us into a world war? .

Why is everybody on here such a pessimist?

Things you hear on the news are put in a negative light for one reason, to make you BUY the paper. No doubt times are hard, but the media are ruining consumer confidence, at a time when all possible should be done to raise it.

Yeah I totally agree, if the media had labelled it Global Recession then we wouldn't be in half the mess we are in at the moment. People read the papers they get worried and then stop spending. That's half the problem and why the big companies are going bust at the moment. Best thing to do would be to ignore the recession

The Daily Star by any chance? I cant believe people believe this rubbish. You think that the UK is going to completely fall apart? Hospitals closing down? We are only going to live until we are 40. We will forget how to read. Etc etc.
