If anyone is interested in these goggles, I will give some general information, its one of my specialist areas, have sourced these for various groups.

"Dual Modes"

Mode 1: 1st generation light enhancement mode. Almost certainly included, simple light collecting cathode tube, image enhancement limited to amplification of light signals.
Gives average quality green picture, expect resolution equivalent to 640x480 on a pc monitor.
Field of View is likely to be 10-15 degrees.

Mode 2: Infrared. Brilliant quality images at short distances (expected equivalent of 1024x768 pc monitor resolution), Light source is provided by Infrared LEDs...however. Buy yourself a powerful enough infrared lamp or torch, and extend the NVGs vision almost indefinitely. (Definitely not suitable for military use)
Field of view again 10-15 degrees.

"Observations"

Looking at the lens in the released video...it may be possible that these are 20-25 degree FOV capable...but it seems unlikely with the cost.

"Concerns"

These NVGs wont be as solidly built as most retail versions. If the entire casing is metal / composite, then there will be issues with fitting and weight distribution (basically if you fit metal headgear tight enough to hold the goggles in place, then you'll begin to feel the strain after a while.). You will notice the weight of these goggles even in plastic because of their extended profile (owing to lower cost 1st generation optics).

They may have a cheap 2x-10x digital zoom feature, or a fixed 2x optical zoom.
These are simple to add, but a fixed optical zoom is not recommended for people susceptible to motion sickness.

"Executive Summary"

Overall, these will be the standard run of the mill civilian NVG gear, 1st generation light enhancement, average quality Infrared picture. Infrared LED light sources (5-10m range). Cheap zoom, terrible field of view.

Buy them for the branding, not the quality.

And of course...they do look damn awesome.

I've been trying to get the Prestige edition but it's sold out everywhere, especially in the UK.
If I find it, I'm buying it.

yeh its bin on hmv for ages i sore it come on hmv straight away 1 hour later some guy had put it on a 1 week featured auction for £35 over hmv price actually sold 10 to!

I personally cant wait for it not sure which console to get it on tho think ill have both consoles then :X

Doubt it. They've had to sign an agreement not to ship early (the same as it was with GTA 4).

They sometimes process the orders early though to stop people going elsewhere when they know they won't get it early.
