Default And now for something completely different...

As the title suggests, this is a brand new and exciting opportunity for experienced and budding entrepreneurs. To be perfectly honest I am not sure if this will work here on the forums, but I hope there are a few members who are able to ‘think outside of the box’.

The Product
100% hand painted pictures, well painting to be exact. Produced in stunning textured oil paints by real artists. These paintings are produced by hand on traditional canvas and then mounted on a wooden frame to a depth of 3cm or 4cm ready to hang or mount on a wall.

The sizes vary according to the design but on average the finished size is 100cm x 75cm. They can be a single painting or a series of 2, 3 or more.

The range is growing continuously and currently there are 80+ designs encompassing styles from traditional landscapes to contemporary abstract and everything in between.

These are truly hand-produced masterpieces and not computer generated graphic art output on to canvas. This is the genuine article!

The Opportunity
We are looking to recruit the following:

Retailers: Bricks and Mortar Retail Outlet owners who sell direct to the end user/customer. There is a possibility for products to be supplied on a ‘sale or return’ basis with monthly rotation of stock.

Online Retailers: We have already received positive responses from a few major online retailers regarding stocking this product on an exclusive basis. However we are keeping our options open and may also considering drop shipping.

Sales Agents: Agents are responsible for recruiting retailers in their chosen region. No fees or stock is required as we will manage and fund supplies. I am sure you do not need me to tell you what kind of retailers you should be looking to approach.

Distributors: We may appoint one or a few territorial distributors. Distributors will have to commit to an initial stock value and then an agreed ongoing twelve monthly spend.

The Bottom Line
What do they cost? Well let’s start with the retail price. Walk in to any reputable department store and you will see these products retailing for anything from £200 upwards.

We hope to pitch our product at half that price and the wholesale price half that again. Do the math, there is a great opportunity just landed on your lap!

What Next?
This post is to gauge the feedback from members and for those ‘cute’ enough to recognize if this is an opportunity or not?

Availability of this product is ‘some time soon’ as there are some details to finalise.

I like them

I think that they would sell well if sold in the correct environment and marketed highlighting the quality.

Saw similar products in China last year and supplied them to a client. These didn't sell well but I think that was down to the quality of the product and the selling environment

Thanks for the comments so far.

You are so right, these really need to be pitched in the right environment. We are talking to large corporates at the moment hoping to put a leasing package together (yes people actually lease paintings!). We also have quite a few indipendent furniture retailers trialing them as we speak.

CarolinaClearac we will be looking for international distributors/retailers as well. I have an office in St Paul MN (well will have when the contractors finally finish it!) so warehousing and distributing in the USA will be easy enough.

that could be something we may be able to look into as we are always looking to add new products to offer to customers

woudl one assume prices fluxuate with the "size" of the paintings?

Prices do change depending on the size however out pricing structure takes this in to account and therefore there is a very small change in price from painting to painting regardless of size and style.

If you are intersted in some samples I am sure we can work something out.

We currently have 100 units 'out and about' with various people/companies.

No problem. I can do that when I am back in the office tomorrow.

Any particular style?
