From today members that have less than 5 posts will no longer be able to use the Private Messaging Feature provided by the forum. I haven't enjoyed taking this action but due to an increase in the abuse of the PM feature I have regretfully had to enforce it.

Members who have 5 posts and above will not be affected by this, it is only really aimed at those members who sign up with the motive to defraud and solicit spam through our community. Once a member has posted 5 times or more on the forum they will be granted access to the PM feature as before.

I have set the initial requirement to 5 posts for the time being as not to upset the several thousand members we have with less than 10 posts, I may however push this requirement higher if the situation doesn't improve. Please understand that I have done this to protect you as forum members from spam and fraudulent individuals. In addition, take note of what I said several months ago in this thread: Important Notice: Buying & Selling on the Forum..

Should you receive any unsolicited, inappropriate or abusive private messages please forward them on to myself or a moderator so that action can be taken against the user responsible.

Many thanks

EDIT: This limitation has now been increased to 10 posts. New members require 10 posts before being able to use the Private Messaging Facility.

Please note:

It can take up to an hour for your access to be granted to the Private Messaging feature. Rest assured as soon as you hit 5 posts the PM feature will appear. If for some reason it doesn't, you can email using the Contact page or start a thread in the Forum Support area for assistance.

Thanks

I think it should go up to 10, as the only thing new comers need the PM system for in my opinion is to ask for personal advice or enquire about an item, both of which can be done by posting, which in turn will enable the PM system eventually.

I agree and this was my initial selection but I felt that to avoid mass inconvenience to those members who are honest and don't partake in spam it was best to ease this change in slowly. As I said above, it will more than likely be moved up to 10 or 15 posts in the coming weeks.

Thanks
