Default More fuss surrounding the FA Cup this year?

Is it me, or was there a considerable amount of fuss and hype surrounding this year's FA Cup?

Obviously it involved two teams that hadn't won the cup for an age, but there seemed to be a lot more focus on it in the last few days than usually. The stadium in fact was busier than it was when the top 5 had their final last year.

Is the FA Cup better when it involves teams like this? Who, with all due respect, aren't the top 5?

Just proves the whole world doesn't revolve around the Chelsea's Utd's, Arsenal's and Liverpool's of this world.

You tell me. I just used it as an example as its usually one of the top 5 teams who compete in it.

I thought it was good. The match was half decent too. Cardiff really piled the pressure on in the second half.

I follow it all, but as far as supporting a team, nope.

Ever since Man U withdrew from the FA Cup several years ago the authorities realise the romantic side of the cup is losing out to the big money of euro competition.

I would agree though, I think the FA cup benefitted from to clubs not used to getting to a final, congrats to Pompey, just wish fans would stop booing national anthems.

I agree about the booing of national anthems, its highly unnecessary.

I wonder what the opinion would be on making the FA Cup a smaller clubs only competition. Maybe the bigger clubs could compete against each other in a higher stakes competition? What are your opinions on that? Would it work or does it defy the point of the FA Cup tradition?

I think that the FA Cup benefited from the smaller sides getting involved in it - all the way through the competition you have the "giant killer" stories and that generates more interest than just the top sides battling it out this week for the ( Champions League, FA Cup, Premier League, whatever insert here ).

I think that some of the top 5 show their true colours when they dont field their best team for the FA Cup - it is almost like they cant be bothered with it.
