Default Question about other Wholesale forums

I've been here a very short while, I mainly just read through threads, however I have found some interesting posts and useful information.

However, since I am located in the U.S., I was wondering if there were any similar sites like this one dedicated to the U.S. market and suppliers.

Despite the .co.uk ending, you do find a lot of other US members here.

I think traffic stats state that around 50% is fron UK and Europe, 30% US and 20% elsewhere.

The forum caters for the US, too. Actually, there are members from all over the world, including many from the US.

I'm sure if you post any questions here, everybody will do their bit to help...

England and America are two countries separated by a common language.
George Bernard Shaw

While I am certainly from the US, and a bit of a fixture here, although at least quarterly i do something to rate a personal scolding from Anthony, i will say there is little here for most Americans.

Importing and buying internationally is a daily fact of life in the UK, where in the US the goods are definitely imported, but not by individuals. Probably 95% have never bought anything except from a US source. Sure the stuff is made in China, but it's still imported and distributed.

There are dropshippers everywhere. It seems to be a new (with the internet) way of marketing in the UK, with only a few really doing it and those that do charging extra for it.

True, there are many such sites in the US, but they are only jumping on the internet bandwagon. There are thousands of companies who have dropshipped for generations, but have never made a big deal of it.

Take a look around and you'll find very few continuing US, or even Canadian, members.

There's no chat about NASCAR, NFL, NBA, MLB. Sure, people are looking for the shirts, but the ambiance is missing.

Nothing personal - or political - or anything else. Just telling it like it is.

There WAS a good forum like this in the US - Wholesale411. But it went to hell after it was bought out. The company that bought it, Go Wholesale, has started another, but it's mostly Chinese spammers. I was asked to moderate there, since I did on the W411 forum, but it's basically delteing spam once a day. No real activity and those who come don't last long.

Several others have tried, but they haven't lasted.

Thats a real shame Pete. Didn't realise it was as bad as that for our US cousins.

Pity we couldn't find a way to bring in more members from over the pond and keep them here. Would be an even more interesting place to visit I am sure.

Given the population of the US and the entrepreneurial spirit therein, I am extremely surprised that there is not a more convenient resource or two dedicated to it.

I think it's difficult to get any forum started from scratch. With all of the "social networking" venues aa competition and the continual bombardment of spammers, it's hard make a go of it.

The W411 forum was once as lively, maybe even more so, than TWF, but it changed hands and even the couple of us mods who hung on were just basically told to let it all hang out. Flaming and fighting and spam soon drove it in the ground.

They are trying again, but it's an up hill struggle.

Maybe within this forum their should be a area for US and Canada? That would give you your own area to chat about revelvent things! and for us Brits to come in and annoy you all!

Bring back John Steed and Emma Peel and all will be forgiven.
