fish problem
I dont keep fish as such so I dont know a lot about them... except they taste good on a bbq.... however I have an outside pool with fish in.... because I like them basically.
One of the little buggers recently floated upside down.... a fan tailed goldfish about the size of my hand... usually a good sign that its floated off to the pool in the sky.... but it was alive and I noticed some redness around its fins.... I isolated it in an inside tank after treating the water with malachite green... the fin problem cleared up but the fish is still upside down..... after some research on the net I found it could have a swim bladder problem... the treatment, as stated, is starvation for 3 days, little food, starvation for 2 days... did that.... fish is still alive but still swimming/floating upside down.... it does not appear to be in any discomfort... it still swims as best it can and feeds.
Is there any cure for this?... any treatment?... any hope?
Thanks in advance

Usually means a bacterial infection which often leads to swimbladder issues.
I have to say it is rarer in a fantail goldfish than some of the more fancy varieties. I believe there is little hope for recovery although some fish can live like this for a while.

Malachite Green is a broad spectrum cure and probably not strong enough Geo.
I have 3 or 4 effective medicines at home but can't remember the name of them.
Do a google search for tropical fish forums - there is one I frequent which is quite busy - a post in there is usually answered in a very short time. The photograph you posted here might also give them a better chance of diagnosing the problem - am no expert (obviously )

I have just got into fish. I won a gold fish at the fair 2 weeks ago (well I say won, I had to pay £10 for the tank, food and gavel! The whole lot cost 12 quid!) for my Son which he aptly named 'Nemo'
I now have the fish bug and plan to get a bridge and an under water diver for the tank

maybe the condition of the water have change, like lack of oxygen, if the tanks have many fish it will lack oxygen.
