Yeah, the UK has had a bunch of non-white PMs.
The fact is that in the US what people say in the polls and what they vote in the privacy of the booth are often quite different.
A while ago the black guy running for the governor of my state, Virginia, was way ahead in the polls. At the end he won by about one point.
