Default need a wee bit of advice re paypal

i sold a car on ebay and the guy paid by paypal.
i transferred the money from paypal into my bank account and then having read some of the nightmare things that happen with paypal scams and wanting to make sure i had secured the funds before the car was handed over removed that bank account which was verified from paypal so i no longer have a bank account which is connected to paypal. he picked it up on friday and today has lodged a claim with paypal saying it doesnt meet the description.he has listed a couple of things which he says werent in the description and whilst i think i might be able to sort it to both our satisfactions i noticed my paypal now has a negative balance for the price of the car.

my worry is if i dont manage to resolve it will they completely refund him without him returning the car and if they do how do they manage to do that if i have closed the link to my bank account

any advice on this would be much appreciated

You don't want to hear mine, but since no one else is responding, here goes -

Don't sell you car on ebay.

It's a sad situation, but you've had much more faith in eBay / PayPal than I have.

I'm sorry, I really can't suggest a course of action, other than cross your fingers and hope it works out.

Well first of all I suggest you contact PayPal and eBay and explain the situation. Also contact the buyer and ask in detail why he or she is unsatisfied with the product which was sold to he/she.

I've been in this situation before when I sold a Nintendo Wii on eBay, someone came and picked it up, didn't think it was up to high standards (even though it was new and never opened) and filed a PayPal Claim against me.

Just be nice to the buyer and don't get angry as this wont help you in anyway. Negotiate with the buyer and ask he or she to return the car and once that's done, you can go ahead and give the buyer the refund.

If the buyer doesn't return the car I'd have a talk with PayPal (on the phone and not by email!) eBay and get the police involved.

Hope this helps.

Like saaj said, contact paypal,

Speak to paypal and ask to speak to someone in UK, you end up getting redirected to places like India and they never have a clue what is going on.

Has the money gone into your bank account yet - can you withdraw it ???

If it has not i would think about givig the police a call.

I had a guy send me £300 for a prada jacket .... he came to my house and picked it up no problem ... then about 3 weeks down the line said he had not recieved it ... then paypal put my account into -£300 and then i had NCO debt collections on my back, not that they can actually do anything they are just a little annoying.
