How big is the entire package? Maybe a lot easier getting it shipped door to door via DHL.

Hi,

Thx for the reply, Im quite new to all of this...

My supplier has shipped it via DHL and just said to arrange safe passage to my address they would recommend a broker for custom's.

The total weight is 55KG, Im not sure of the actual size but its wont be too massive as its containing 120 items all of which are things like MP3/MP4/Camera's etc so nothing to big.

I was always under the understanding that DHL would of done all the work for me, Like clearing custom's and the only thing i needed was a pursuedo turn number.

Do you think i need one then or is my supplier just a little mixed up?

Thx

There are two types of service by courier such as DHL. Door to Door and Express. Express is what your supplier has used and will get the package to the UK airport and you do the rest. It is obviously cheaper but then you have the hassle and cost of getting the goods cleared and then forwarded to you.

Door to Door would have been idel but I presume it is now too late?

Do a google and ring around for the best charges as it is not a massive package in terms of weight.

I think it was my supplier confusing things, I have spoken to DHL Import Dept today and they will do all the custom's clearing for me and then forward the packages onto me once complete.

Thanks for all your help though

If you use DHL door to door you dont need to pay for a customs broker but you do need to pay the customs duty and vat on your order still. They invoice you normally with in 2 weeks of receiving the package.
