I have gone through some of Google Checkout's terms, and it appears both parties get protection regardless of whether it's a verified account, unlike Paypal.

Does anyone have more experience with this method, and how safe is it from a buyer and seller point of view?

As a seller, they do instant fraud checks and reject the card straight away...... unlike paypal which will let you take payment then do a chargeback a month down the line.

It was also mentioned on another forum site that Google checkout works in the same fashion as Escrow... Can someone confirm this? Thanks

We use google checkout and it is a great way of accepting credit cards. they will approve almost any amount.

I have a few retail sites that use a paypal payment engine & shopping basket. Would you recommend a merchant that is using paypal (all be it in a limited fashion) to use google checkout?

I think Google Checkout is great

There are professional grade....like anything else from Google.

I like PayPal, but they can give you a bunch of problems, with dirt crap customer service, and they just dont care.
