Right im stuck and need advice.

To cut a long story short I have £2,000 in a holding account in germany. When I access the holding account I can enter an account number and sort code. But it only accepts German numbers. So the money has to be transferred to a german bank account.

I have tried to open a german bank account and it is absolutely impossible.

So now im thinking of buying something in germany. And having it posted over to England. But the seller must accept a bank transfer and the seller must have a german bank account.

Can anyone think of something I could buy and bring to england which wouldnt loose much money?

For example. My first thought was to buy postal orders and have them posted to england where I can simply put them into the bank. This would loose me just a very small amount of money.

any input is much appreciated thanks from Bal

You could talk with to-neXt GbR and see if you could act as the financial conduit for one or more of his sales to a UK buyer? You could possibly buy some yourself and make a profit on it over here?

Are there any more German sellers here, who may be prepared to work a similar deal?

Speak to a law firm that has an office in Germany, get the money paid into their account and then paid to you in the UK. They will be very suspicious of money laundering but I am sure you can provide them with enough proof.

I presume your money is actually in Euros - have you tried to open a Euro CitiBank current account and transferring your money to that account?

I have a German friend, I will run your situation by him to see what he thinks and if he can give you any practical advise.

anotheruser - ive PM'ed nxtgbr, it would be great if I could make a deal with a german seller on here.

DSC - the problem ive had with banks is that none operate in both countries. I imagine the same problem with solicitors. But ill have a look into it thanks

Rob - the problem is not the currency, I need a german acc number and sort code to transfer to. The holding acc will only send to a german account.

Just had another thought: not all that many years ago, Banque Paribas (a French bank) were advertising Euro accounts from their London branch. I think they may have a branch in Frankfurt, too. Try contacting them and asking if you can have an account at their Frankfurt (or any other German) branch.
