Hmm, I would be interested to know what charges come in next year though - I a m presuming they would have to undercut paypal otherwise there would be little point in doing it.

Out of interest, I am launching my site next month and am considering only accepting google and paypal - is this wise?

We are going to be accepting both, no harm in that, if google is more expensive next year just remove them.

Are you going to take cards as well? Just that I looked that paypal is cheaper overall (for me at least) plus you dont have to worry about the SSL security element?

Well if your building a site which is going to be based on a shopping cart (Oscommerence or Zen Cart etc) then you would still need some kind of SSL security during checkout, because it would make the customer feel a lot safer because before paying, the customer would need to enter their personal details such as their name and address.

i rekon google checkout will be very huge by next year, they will make sure everyone knows about it, they got some of the main online stores signed up, its a good thing, as paypal are just doing what they want, about time paypal took a sit down,

Hopfully google checkout is checking the CC reg/ed address properly and not the shortcuts paypal take,
