Sorry, they do offer a link, but all processing is done on their site, not the sellers. And the buyer has the option to use an email alias, so that the seller does not capture the real email.

A number of major retailers are not happy with Google taking control of their customer. And several report that having an email address increases annual sales to a particular customer appreciably, something they are not willing to give up.

Be very careful, Microsoft, Intuit, Amazon, eBay and Google will soon own everything.

It all comes back to the opening up of the purchase process that consumers are now expecting on the Internet...ie. click and buy. Even Ebay are getting in on the act with Guest Buying. Personally I always use my throw away emails whenever I need to register on a site (inc. forums), unless they have an opt out policy, as I do not want any further communication until I want it.

Now don't get me wrong a customer list is invaluable but I have found that it is far easier to obtain this email after they have bought that first product as opposed to be forced to give it before ordering, simply utilise other collection means and your take up rate and repeat custom rate will jump.....try it and see.

Isn't that how we all feel? easier when we've received somthing worthwhile for our money. Resented until then. QED.

Pete..i do agree with you Sir, to a certain point but for a small Business, Google is ok, as a small company would like to keep the cost down, & Google checkout works out for small company's i feel.

So what payment method do you use pete? if you don't mind me asking sir? would it be pay pal? .....cas if so there just greedy sons of bitches, you wanna talk bout straws & milkshake? i wanna to talk bout penny and the bun..

Im just a small fish in a big Ocean, so i don't think im going to send them a lot of work there way...But saying that im not by any means saying its right/wrong, cas if everyone had your veiw and everyone done there own bit, the world would be a better place to live and work..
When im as rich as Bill gates, or Mr Wallmart then ill think about this a lot more...A bit negitive thinking i know ! but one step at a time for me at the mo ! lol

With Respect Sir..just my veiw.

You have no idea what greedy is. PayPal is right in line with regular merchant accounts, actually a bit less if you are doing under $ 2500 USD per month. I find that Moneybookers is quite a bit higher then PayPal. At 2.9% and 30 cents per transaction PayPal is higher than my merchant account at 2.34% and 30 cents, but my merchant account also has a gateway fee and a monthly statement fee that run about $ 20 that PayPal does not. So, the actual cost averaged over a month is about the same.

Plus, for me the merchant account is only good in the US, so all of you guys from the UK and elsewhere around the world would not be able to pay with the merchat account.

More than anything else, though, for me (and like you say, we all have our own reasons) I don't like the idea that Google is muddying up the waters by offering unrealistic rates in order to build their advertising business. In the end it's going to bite us all. They are using their power to undercut the market. That's never a good practice. Except for them.

And plese do not refer to me as Sir. I hardly answer to Mister, let alone sir.

I don't like Google going to China as they did. I don't like them snooping in my computer, I don't want them reading my email (I have no gmail account), I don't want them knowing my blood pressure and what I had for breakfast. But they are trying to find out. And the more you give the more they are going to take.

However, maybe you should support them, you may one day end up working for them, when they take over the world.

Pete...I think Google already know your blood pressure by now! and yes i do know what greedy is....your talking about a merchant account something you picked up, that us brits don't have...Im Talking about some lonely house wife selling her Dirty underware or her kids games in the loft gathering up dust and "she" sells on e/bay via P/P and gets stung for 1 selling (everyone does No Problem) items which is buttons, then 2 getting payed into "her" P/P account then 3 have to pay (again) to move her cash to her personal bank account...something which we here must pay for such a service. but you guys over there Don't get charged that fee inside the usa...Why? Thats just 1 of many reasons why P/P Sucks !

And yep i will want to join the winning side "IF" i had to.... as we have a saying here if you can't beat them "join them" & yes so in the end ill work for Google "maybe" and you work for P/P/Ebay "maybe"...As we all will never beat them period !

Pete..and whats all that Don't call me "sir" all bout? Thats not dissin you in any way, I "thought" & lead to beleive thats was a respectful American thing ! but maybe you Did'nt get brought up to use that respectful word "Sir" did you?

Anyway pete you need to chill out cas i can feel your B/P going up from here! your going to give yaself a H/A.... only Kidding pete ..

Again with Respect

Not a big deal. And it is a shame you have to pay to get your money from PP. I don't like having to pay Moneybookers.

And do keep in mind that housewife probably still comes out better selling her used drawers and kids games on ebay then she would if she had what we call a "garage sale" and set them on a table out front Saturday morning and sold them for pennies.

Many here spend their Saturdays in peoples' driveways and then sell the stuff they buy on eBay on Monday.

As for the sir, that's my father, not me.
