Default Help needed for 1st time importing

Hi
I have been in touch with a chinese manufacturer and was planning to place a sample order with them.I have done a whois and telephone search and the address and no. seem to check out.The only problem is that they are only accepting Western Union ot T/T as payment which I am reluctant to use as I know how unsecure these are. When they made an invoice for me I noticed that if paying by western union the name is different for the receiver than one on the whois site.Should I be very weary or is this a normal practise for payment for a small sample order?
Can anyone please give me some advice as this is my first time importing from China and like everyone I am scared of getting scammed.

TT and even WU for small value items is common in China. There are a growing amount of chinese factories which have offices in HK accepting PayPal, but still very rare.

None of them are better for you they are the most unsafe payment methods around

Is there any other websites you could recommend for checks.

If they are unwilling to except a safe payment method i'd run a mile not to say they are a scam site as there is genuine sites that only except these types of payments but the only way anyone on here would be able to help further is to submit there website here maybe someone is or as used them in the past.
