I'm with First Direct, the online subsidiary of HSBC, I only pay £10 to make a T/T to an HSBC bank in HK, and all I have to do is pick up the phone and arrange it. Payment usually gets there same or next day.

Hi Novax61,

Thanks for the info...very interesting!
Could you advise how much it is [in yoiur experiences] to pay a non-HSBC bank in other countries, too? Am unsure if HSBC offer such good rates to non-subsidiary banks etc?

Thanks for the post, and for your help,

Mike

Default Transfers

Hi DSC
I contacted a number of the Banks today and then rang Transfermate and they beat the bank rates. I dont know where you got 1% but their rate was less than 1% off the market rate so i dont think that is possible. Anyway it was only a few k to china however I was impressed

The fellow i spoke with also informed me that as a regular business client I wouldn't pay transfer fees also
