Malaysia Company accepting PayPal Be Cautious
If you are looking to buy anything from a Malaysian Company and they accept PayPal - Be cautious.
Paypal does not deal with Malaysian Banks. Most of the time there are ceating ways for Malaysians to get around this but most of the time their accounts get shut down and the money gets held.
So just be careful. Too many times have I seen that a person uses PayPal to pay a Malaysian company and then the funds get held and the buyer has to go through the run around with PayPal to get their funds back. Sometimes it is easy other times it is hard.
Then there is the ever growing PayPal fraud in Malaysia. People will start up a international bank account in America or the UK and take a lot of high payments. Then they transfer the money from the USA or UK bank to their Malaysian bank and shut down the USA or UK bank. Since they live here the fraud will not be prosecuted here because the fraud was committed in another country.
Most companies in Malaysia that are legit only accept bank transfers. I live in Malaysia and over here you can even set up your cellphone to pay bank to bank. It is awesome. Just text the code to their bank with the info and within 2 days they have it.
Even the internet companies, electric companies, water, etc take bank transfers. And it is cheaper over here to transfer money that way. Credit cards are not widely used here because of fraud.
Look for companies that accept bank transfer from these banks as the banks have strict guidelines which make most scammers stick away from them. MayBank, CIMB Bank, and Eon. I am not saying that scam artist will not use these banks but it is harder for them. These banks are very curious into your personal matters when you get money transfered from abroad.
I personaly had to show document after document to MayBank to get them to accept my student loan checks becasue they are transfered from a USA bank. That was fun!!!
So in the end if you deal with a Malaysian company and they accept PayPal just be cautious.
