Default Courier compnay contract rates

99% of our stuff goes by special delivery but we are now negotiating new rates with couriers (I bloody hate couriers!!!).

Based on 50% of our business going via courier, the best rate so far is £4.50 for a courier bag and £5.50 for up to 8kg and then 20p per kilo thereafter.

Anyone with courier rate confirm if that's competitive?

That rate doesnt seem too bad, but, it is all driven by the actual volume - how many do you fire out a week?

I appreciate the volume is the negotiating factor, I have used virtually every courier company out there (and they are all *****!).

These figures were based on only 300+ per month as we will still use special delivery for stuff under 2kg.

I pay £5.50/parcel from 1kg-30kg
That is with DHL, and run through sale track if you have not heard of them, the clue is in the name, they track your sales. They approached us, and sorted out a contract with dhl for us.

Like you, we send only about 300/month, and probs 600+ via RM.

Already slightly bettered the deal with another company. DHL are coming in for a meeting on Wednesday so I will see what deal they stick on the table.
