I found this on my travels today, an article covered by Tech Crunch reports a PayPal bug with their subscription feature that hasn't been fixed in 10 days after its first report.

The bug itself stops people from paying a subscription payment if they live outside of the sellers country. For example; If a seller is offering a subscription and they are located in the UK, only those within the UK can make the subscription payment. The system just refreshes the page if you attempt to try and change the country. (As demo'ed in the video below..)

Not really the sort of PR you want to be spread around this quickly. You would think though if we are all aware of it, somebody at PayPal would have fixed it!

Anybody here experienced it?

I have PayPal subscriptions from all around the world.

I have an idea it may relate to the subscriber allowing a continuing use of a backup credit card. I did have one UK subscriber who "disconnected" from his backup and I got a "cancelled subscription" notice. When I contacted him he told me what he had done with the card, but he did not mean to cancel the subscription.

All of my hosting is on a subscription basis, even the annual is a recurring annual payment. I've got at clients in at least half a dozen countries outside the US and it's only the one I mentioned that is not on a current subscription.

So, I'd say it's more the status of the "backup account" than it is anything else.
