Default Pay 3rd Party then wait to receive goods?

Hi all,

I'm new to this site so please be gentle.

I'm looking at a vehicle that is presently in Spain and i'm in UK. Seller said he has an Export company acting as 3rd party. They will deliver vehicle to my address once we have both agreed a sale price, he signs contract, I receive some email contract and then the shipping company require a bank transfer from me. This, then will be held by the shipping company until I receive the vehicle, inspect and accept. Once this is has been done they forward payment onto the seller!!

I've had a look at shipping Co web site and I'm not too sure

It all sounds a bit dodgy to me.

Any advice will be gladly received.

is the car a really good price, remember if its too good to be true, it prob is.

At a guess, I'll bet it's something like a UK M3 for half price advertised on ebay with an email address to contact. They are selling it cheap to pay for their father's funeral expenses.

As I said, it's a scam! Tell them to go forth and multiply.

This is a major scam that a lot of sellers are using ebay to advertise.

Prime example i was looking to buy an BMW X5, checked out a few adds on ebay, came accross 3 scammers selling these for between £7000.00 and 10,000.00 but the same story as you mentioned in this thread, to good to be true. These guys are blaggers, they take pictures of other pepoles cars then advertise them as there own, stay well away from them.

Here is a reply I got from a typical scammer advertising high end cars on ebay........

Quote:
Hello there,
I appreciate that you contacted me. First let me say that the car is in perfect conditions, no flaws or dents, no scratches or any kind of damage, no engine problems, no hidden defects, the car has not sustained any damage whatsoever. The interior is in like new condition and has never been smoked in. There is no outstanding finance on the car. The car is still UK registered, the problem is that at this moment I am located in Germany for the next 3 months because I've just started a new business here with an old friend of mine. Also I must let you know that the car is here with me but I can arrange to be shipped at your door. The car comes with original invoice, owners manual and all the documents to prove its ownership. You won't have to pay any import taxes because it's a UK car, not an import. You will get from me the keys and all documents to transfer the car onto your name. The price I hope to obtain for the car is 7850 GBP with shipping costs included! I am a private seller and I had the privilege to buy this car at a low cost from a bankrupt trader. The genuine reason for sale is a divorce and this is forcing me to sell it fast and under the market value. I am not able to handle the sale in person and for safety reasons I've decided to use a company for online transactions, a third party transaction mediator. The transaction will be done through ebay and you will have 7 days to inspect and test the car before any money is realeased to me.
Please let me know if you are interested to buy this car and I will give you more details.
I'll wait your reply,
Daniel Russell
Take heed.

My reply:

Quote:
Hi Daniel

Thanks for the reply, it sounds a very good deal and my boyfriend will be so pleased with the car, having wanting a big black one for so long. However I am a little skepticle ovcer the payment and shipping arrangements. I understand you will ship the car at me for free, I can inspect it and then pay you. That is very trustworty of you as you don't know me from tom, ****, harry met sally?

You mention a third party will facilitate the transaction but you also mention the sale will be completed via ebay. Can you give me more advice.

I look forward to hearing from you.

He's back

Quote:
Hello Ivor,
I will explain you the entire procedure of the escrow transaction. The car will be sent to Samskip and they will handle the shipping for me. The delivery of the car takes max.5 days depending on your location. The sale will be thru eBay, meaning that they will hold and insure your money until receipt of the car in good condition. I want a 100% legitime transaction because I don't want to lose the car and also you don't want to lose your money. You have to deposit the funds to eBay and once the payment is confirmed I will immediately ship you the car. Also keep in mind that you will have 7 days to inspect it and to decide if you want to keep it or not. The 7 days inspection period starts from the first day when you'll receive the car. If by any reason the car is not as described or if you find any problems with it, you will get your money back from eBay and I will pay for the returning fees. I'm sure it won't be the case because it's a state of art looking and working vehicle. You will receive the V5 document with section 8 signed by me and this way you will be able to transfer the car onto your name. Also you will receive 2 keys(remotes) and the master key. After the 7 days period you have to contact eBay with the inspection results and if you are satisfied with the car then the funds will be released to me and the transaction is closed. As soon as I have the confirmation from ebay that you have sent the payment to them I can make arrangements for the car to be shipped directly to your address. I apologize if it seems like I'm pushing on this deal but I really want to be sure everything is clarified before any further steps.
So if you want to proceed please provide me your full name and the shipping address so I can start the transaction.
Regards,
Daniel
I wish I had more time at this present moment to play with him some more!
