Default PayPal charges - how to work them out?

Hi,

I am in the process of building my own wholesale/dropshipping website. I am planning to use PayPal as a method of accepting payments. My transaction amount is between 200 - 1500GBP per transaction. I was planning to introduce 3.5% add-on (incorporated into the unit price) to cover PayPal fees. Can anyone please advise if this figure is reasonable taking into consideration that I will be offering free shipping to the UK & EU?

Thank You
TechnikDubai

20p + 3.4% I believe unless you have a merchant rate with them.

Make sure you take into costs exchange fees if you're dealing with several currencies.

Personally I wouldn't be too impressed with someone who would only let me pay by paypal but expects me to pay more for it, especially when they want you to pay more than what the fees are going to be.

Greedy boy beat me to it (yet again lol!), he's right it's 3.4% + 20p as this will be taken off your receiving payments... Another thing to consider is eBay fees if you plan on selling on there too, i'm still playing around with getting it right as it depends what your selling price is - i just work on an average of 7.5% plus promo fees (i.e: subtitle, bold, gallery e.t.c...)

Hope this helps & happy trading
Steve
