Default How do I open a UK-based bank account?

Hello,

I am a US seller that wishes to sell on both play.com and amazon.co.uk to UK buyers. I have been told by both sites that it would be fine for me to sell and the only thing that I need is a UK bank account in which I can deposit my earnings. I have checked with my bank here in the States, and they do not have an international branch? Does anyone have any tips for how I can set up a UK bank account while living here in the US?

Thanks

Unfortunately neither of those banks has an American branch. My bank here in the US (Bank of America) actually has a relationship with Barclay's, but its looking like quite a drawn-out process to set up an international account through Barclay's.

As far as I understand, it's impossible to open a UK bank account from abroad. You have to come for at least few days to do all the paper work. At least that's for individuals, maybe there's an easier way for business.

Even those companies who offer "Open Bank Account in the UK" services, mention on their websites that they can only prepare all the documentation but still - you have to come to finish up everything.

You can not open a bank account with any high street bank if you are not a UK resident.

Thanks for the advice everyone, but there is not an HSBC branch located anywhere nearby. I know that I will likely have to find an offshore bank, any advice on one of those?
