paypal advice
I am thinking of purchasing a couple of personal items from china, I am in contact with a supplier which is on a no-no list because of fake stuff (chinatrade365) they are offering paypal payments, they have a business account with paypal, is it reasonable to assume that I am a little protected, as if they have a business account and they sell me fake stuff, or fail to deliver then Paypal will refund me, is there anything else I should worry about. thankyou to anyone who can offer help and advice.
ps cansomeone tell me how to PM

PayPal protects you to a certain extent. It depends a little on the value of the item and where you are covered under their protection policy, you will need to find this out before entering into the transaction. For low value items, PayPal is a decent method to use, for more highly valued items, consider using something a little more secure.

Hope this helps.

Even if you win a Paypal dispute, if the seller has no money in his account you won't receive a penny.

DM makes a fair point but if its a business you are dealing with and a half credible one at that, you should receive a refund if all goes wrong.
The first stage to establish is whether the company you are dealing with is one that you think you can safety proceed with. If you are in two minds then perhaps you should consider looking else where for the products you are trying to source.

I have been using paypal for number of years. If the seller does not ship you the items you can log a dispute and the seller will need to reply.
The dispute gives you and the seller a chance to work out solution.
If you can't come to a solution then you can let paypal customer service know and they may decide if they can give you a refund or not.

Thankyou for your response, I have emailed Paypal for there advice, but I know what the end edvice will be (its up to you), I have lodged a file a dispute in the past and funny enough I have already posted my experiance in this forum, the quick version is I have filed a dispute against an auction seller for none delivery, won the dispute, but because the seller had no funds in there account they could not give me a refund, Paypal did say they would do what ever it take to persue the seller but could not give me anymore information because of the privicy laws, three years on I am still waiting.

i always make a point of paying for anything of value on paypal using credit card funding. this happened to me recently, the seller hadnt sent the item, i won the dispute but paypal didnt refund me anything as they said the seller had no money in their account, so i rang my credit card company and did a chargeback. this is the way forward as paypal's 'protection' is pretty pants to be honest, but via credit card you are 99% covered.

well...I have read so many times that if you're paying via paypal using a CC then you're almost 100% safe...could somebody explain how does that chargeback thing is going? I mean how much time do you have for chargeback? is it possible to do a chargeback after you received the goods and realised that it is not what you expected?
is it enough just to call your bank(which issued you CC) and ask to do a chargeback?
how does that process goes?
thanks
V.
