If you don't recieve goods you can file a chargeback with your credit card company and I wouldn't worry about where a server is located.

I'm in the hosting business in the US and half of my clients are from the UK, EU, AU, and more. That really doesn't amen anything.

However, there is something I would be concerned about when using a credit card.

If they ask for the number and the such over the phone and want your 3 or 4 digit "security code" just hang up. Unless you are positive they are reputable.

If they get your card information through a secure payment gateway, where you enter the information yourself, it is much safer than over the phone. Still not guaranteed, but safer.

people mention doing a charge-back, but if the goal is to get your card and use it, you may spend the rest of your life straightening it out.

Agree with Pete - although "charge-back" is an option if everything fails, it still isn't a way
to plan your business. Also, some credit cards are not covered and you won't be able to get
any money back. In some countries, charge-back is not an option without a police report.

Try and ask if they are comfortable with using some sort of escrow service.

Western Union is used by a lot of criminals to try defraud buyers, they use it because it has no credible security for buyers.

You are much safer with a credit card. Another alternative is escrow.com.

charge backs are not always easy... but like above if the point is to get your card details then you are lost in a minefield..... I would never consider trading with a supplier who has no way to communicate in real time... msn... yahoo... etc are free.... I am also vary wary of restricted payment methods..... western union you could lose the money for the order... credit card you could lose the money for the order and whatever else is available.... online secure is a lot safer than over the phone... t/t I would never consider unless I trusted the recipiant
