I've simply used Royal Mail in the past, cost me £6.95 to send out a pair of shoes boxed. I've never had an item not get there when it shouldhave, though this is only based on sending out 20 parcels. Im sure if I had sent out 200 one or 2 may have gone missing, but Im not sure.

This time my parcels will weigh a lot less, about the weight of a nicely sized english potato

Anyone with some good advice as to what service and who to use for next day delivery?

Depending on the value, you won't get better than royal mail. Without a contract rate, the cheapest courier would be around £6.99 + VAT for a 1 - 3 day service.

If the item is worth over £50 and you want guaranteed next day then use Special Delivery.
