Just thought I would enlighten you all with my recent experience of Parcelforce.

2 weeks ago i went on my holidays to Florida. The day before I went I telephoned Parcelforce to tell them I was going on holiday and I asked them what would happen to any parcels that were due to be delivered whilst I was away. "Don't worry" I was told, "Even though you have informed us you are going away we still (as part of the contract with EMS in China) have to make one attempt at delivery. If there is no one at home your parcels will go back to the depot and a card will be pushed through your door asking you to contact us for re-delivery. As long as you contact us within 3 weeks we will then re-deliver your parcels at your convenience."

I returned from my holidays at 5am Saturday Morning to find four parcels (containing about £800 worth of stock) dumped in the middle of my drive. I went online and checked the tracking for the signature and the drive had just done a wavy line.

Later the same morning my neighbour came round and said he had another 5 parcels of mine in his garage. He said he drove past one day and one was laid up against a tree and then he came past the next day and two were on the drive. Then later the next week two more were dumped on the drive.

I rang Parcelforce this morning to complain. The supervisor told me the driver would be called into the office and be asked to explain himself. This afternoon I decided to take the dog for a walk and found four more parcels had been dumped on my drive without a signature. And this time there had been some one in all day!

I think the driver should be sacked. Luckily I live in a rural area where all the neighbours are honest and there aren't many thieves around. But can you imagine if i'd lived on a council estate? 3K of stock would have gone missing and Parcelforce would have to foot the bill.

Oh dear, I'm sorry to hear of your dreadful experience. It must have put a damper on what was otherwise a good holiday.

They make you sick some of them, they really have no worries at all. Fortunately though, its a minority that act like that.

Are you going to try and follow up the complaint? One has to wonder whether the supervisor will really call the guy in!?

I will give them a call tomorrow to see what action they have taken against the driver.

The problem is the stock comes from China and my supplier uses EMS for shipping, who have a contract with parcelforce in the UK. If they use a different courier to EMS I will have to pay more for shipping.

Nightmare scenario - the only one I find decent in this area id DHL but, of course it depends on the driver - they are all self employed subcontractors anyway

ive had parcel force in my area deliver stuff without signature before, looks like a naughty habbit of theirs !

As for there collection service that needs something to be desired also, i book a collection for between 2-4pm most days and twice in the past week they have turned up at 11am, then some days they dont even turn up ! They are pretty crap really and im going to be looking for a new service soon, DHL are nearby so will prob get them to quote for us.

I was very alarmed to read of your experience. We do not tolerate leaving items without a signature. Please could you ring me to discuss this further. I am very sorry for the inconvenience and annoyance caused.
Many thanks

Simply amazing... I suppose I should be happy that EMS in my country is handled by post (their express service) - they would never do something like this!
