Adwords is ok, but it depends on the amount of money you have the throw at it, and also depends on the amount of competition you have.
No matter how you go about it, your always going to be a newbie at Adwords first time round, and I suppose the only way you'll get to learn it is by jumping in at the deep end. A lot of new people to adwords will put a daily budget of £1 - £2... This is definately not the way.
You need to set a daily budget that is realistic, say £100 - £150 to start off with.. You then can work on cutting it down and optimising your campaign to get more sales for less cost.
There are companies out there to do this for you, but obviously if you are a new company, you might not have the money.
Generating leads via eBay is a good option like Andy said, also getting articles and doing the basic seo yourself is good (also stated by Andy)... Once you build up some money, get someone who knows what they are doing to help you out and get it set up... Look at what they are doing and learn from it. Alternatively, look into it, research it and have a go at it yourself, theres no harm in trying
You can get sites like the EKM powershop, you could also download cubecart free of charge and buy a skin for £30 - £40 then alter it (if you know basic HTML and how to use FTP etc).
Hope this helps.
