Default very important question about alertpay

Hello,
I am about to buy something through alertpay with credit card. If the seller is a fraud can i go to my credit card company and ask for a refund? Will the fees be returned? Will alertpay charge me or the receiver for any fees?

If alertpay is anything like PayPal, than the answer is "maybe." Each card has a different policy surrounding chargebacks and payment services, so it would be best to contact your card company and ask them. I'd tell them you are buying something from an auction site rather than buying items for wholesale. See what they say for that.

Hi Tunata,
I looked through the alertpay site a bit more. I saw one thin that concerned me. Under the FAQ's area under credit cards I found this:

Can I cancel my credit card deposit transaction?
You cannot cancel your credit cart deposit transaction. Deposits made by credit card are automated and the processing occurs immediately. Since your credit card is debited instantly for the amount that you request in your deposit transaction, there is no Pending state. The funds become available to you immediately leaving no opportunity for cancellation.

I would contact your credit card company that you were going to use and ask them. It is better safe than sorry.
T.

It sounds to me like alertpay is just like any another merchant so a chargeback would be possible (from my limited knowledge of chargebacks, this is what I think). The whole deposit deal must have something to do with them not being able to cancel the transaction once it takes place...you're stuck with the charge on your card and the money you deposited in your alertpay accout...which can't be reversed. But of course since alertpay would be acting as a link between you and your supplier and therefore not at fault if something goes sour, I'm sure they fight chargebacks like nobodies business...or they could become PayPalish and freeze your account, lol.

hello,
I am going to call my credit card company and tell them that i am about to buy something through AlertPay with my credit card and see what they say incase the supplier doesn't send me the products. However, the supplier has given me 4 referrals, with a tracking number so i am pretty sure that he is legit. He also is NetIBA verified. if there is anything else i should ask him please let me know because i am not an expert at this wholesale thing yet.

Default Contact AlertPay not Credit Card company.

Hello Tunata,

If you are paying through AlertPay, and the seller is fraud, you should contact AlertPay asap to do something about it, and not contact your credit card company. AlertPay can get your money back from the seller if there is an issue. But if you attempt to get your credit card company to intervene, you will be screwing AlertPay over and not the seller. Not just that, because you didn't contact AlertPay, AlertPay will be going after you now to recover the lost fees and the chargeback fee you incurred since you didn't contact them to help you in the matter. Because if you contact your credit card company, ALertPay will fight your claim since ALertPay is providing you the service of funding your account and will protect you in case of fraud if you let them know. Hope that helps

ahh... I understand what you mean... I think if you contact AlertPay in that case, they would reverse the fees back as well since the fees were incurred due to the purchase that was intended. Are we talking about a large amount of money?

I think once AlertPay releases their Escrow service in the near future, they would simply hold on to the funds in the sellers account until you receive your item. That would avoid future complications. I know they mentioned they were going to be adding this functionalitiy in the future. As well, the fees incurred are the fees AlertPay has to incurr to process your transaction. So if this is an issue with you, don't use AlertPay.

However, I always find it best to contact the company first, and not the CC company. If you contact the CC company, AlertPay will go after you since you didn't deal with them for the issue, and since they don't know your situation, you are the one defrauding them out of money. I believe they would terminate your account (for life) which I would really not want.... and stick a collections agency after you.

If you talk to AlertPay and a problem arises, they can work with you to resolve it.
