Default Whats the best way ... charge for shipping or keep it free ?

Hello people.

Can you share your expertise on what worked best for you when it comes to shipping your products.

A) Is it best to charge for the shipping cost.

Or

B) Add the shipping cost in the sale price and keep shipping free.

Whats the best method that you would advice and why ?

Thank you and God-bless.

sharaaz

It quite often depends on what you are selling and who you are selling it to. Are you selling to the trade or to consumers?

Consumers: add p & p to the product cost then offer 'free' shipping - it works!

Thought about doing this myself. Saves hassle on weighing stuff, which I often find when I'm near a certain band my scales aren't quite as accurate as the PO. Also aren't ebay trying to encourgae this?

Consumers. ?

* Thanks for your input kasabian.

*Yorkieboy , lets see what others think and it might also help you in your decisions.

I just want to see what practice works best and save time from someone who has noticed good results.

i Found that i sold more (around 20% more) when i priced a product at £17.99 with free postage, than at £14.99 with £2.99 postage.

I've found that including postage in my pricing draws more attention- especially on eBay.
I then make a big deal about FREE POSTAGE and thats always a winner.
I get more sales, and only have to add in the £2.50 to the price - sometimes I make a little bit extra profit when I round figures up (like £19.99 instead of £19.12 for example)

Hi,

Do you advertise to your own website and offer free postage? I'm not sure I quite understand.

If you sell on eBay then offering free postage and packaging is soon going to become mandatory, anyway (for a lot of product categories). So it may be a good idea to start offering it for free now before the changes. It can also be a great selling point too for a lot of customers.
