Hi. Many people talk about importing mobile phones from china on this forum. But I would like to just point out a few things that you need to be aware of BEFORE proceeding to buy phones. Sorry if this info is already to your knowledge.

Firstly, branded nokias, motorolas etc.. are usually fakes. So dont buy them.

Secondly and MOST IMPORTANTLY: before you buy unbranded phones or phones such as CECT brand phones (which are very famous in China) you must be aware that there are many regulations pertaining these types of products.

For a person to sell phones in the UK, one must have the CE, WEEE markings on the phones and meet the CE and WEEE directives . In addition, the phones MUST meet the ROHS directive of hazardous substances also. So basically you need proof of of CE, and ROHS. The buyer or seller is responsible for the WEEE and it will cost you about 700 pounds for a year.

So before you buy phones from China, or anywhere else for that matter, MAKE SURE you ask proof of CE and ROHS.

BEWARE, that many companies in China DO NOT have CE or ROHS on phones.

if you want them to put the CE and ROHS on the phones, it will cost you about $30000-50000. or you will have to order 5000 units or so for them to even think about it.

Hope this info was useful. Thanks

ATTENTION!

I would also like to warn wireless traders that if you buy from china then buy with extra care.

I have recently been decieved when i ordered a nokia n95 sample. They told me it was original but when arrived it had real box but a fake hiding inside.

China are making fakes and trading with fakes here in the UK is illegal.

I am still Investigating the sample i recieved. If you ask me they do pull it off but as honest traders we should not decieve our customers.

I am afraid it is common knowledge amongs (the majority) of reputable mobile handset suppliers that most new phones purchased from China are likely to be a fakes. I cant stress enough that it is impossible to purchase the likes of the n95 "cheaply" & this is where most people go wrong - Not knowing enough about the product & the actual handset cost is a huge downfall.
