Hi guys, am a newbie here on the forum. Was wondering if someone could help me out with a few questions about the prices.

Does anyone know the retail price of PS3, WII in Uk and other parts of Europe?

Also what about Sony Viaos laptops? Or any other laptops and desktops?

And apple items such as the Shuffle, Ipod Touch?

Nokia N95 without the contract?

I would appreciate if you can please let me know the prices of these few items or send me a link or something? I was chatting to someone from this forum online and he told me that in Norway the ps3 from the shops is $900.00 and then when i told him I can get it for half price he was shocked heheh so was wondering if this is the case with other things as well such as laptops, apple and mobiles. Remember that if importing to the EU you need to pay VAT and import duty (roughly 25%).

And shop price is much different than online price.

hey Dm yeh you are rite there is VAT and import duty to pay and the shipping charges.

But if you look at it. A ps3 20 gb is for $575.00, shipping will be $50 and then add 25% onto 575 = $768.00 that is still cheaper then $900.00 in the shops even after paying taxes and import. (I am assuming 25% is for VAT AND IMPORT???? Some correct me if i m wrong)

Another thing you can do is get the supplier to prepare a invoice with a value of only $50 and say something like Ps3 being sent back to repair nominal value $50. That way ps3 is for $575 + $50 (shipping charges) + $13 ($50 * 0.25) = $638.00 hehehe

Dm you said its 25% is that for VAT and IMPORT DUTY? or only 25% for Import Duty? and do you have to pay VAT when you are purchasing goods from another country?

I guess its probably the same for other goods as well like laptops, cameras and so on.

For the UK, import VAT is 17.5% and then roughly 5% import duty for a ps3, so about 25% in total.

Yes, people do import and sell consoles, but I doubt the margins are as big as you say.

sheeesh ppl in UK get ripped off seriously. well i told you how much the ps3 is costing me, Y would i ly :S and the rest I have shown you, the shipping charges and VAT and it comes to $638.00 and in the shops in norway it was is being sold for $900.00. so if you sold it for $800 or even $750.00 you will still be making $112.00 which is alrite for one ps3. But then again if you have 5 ofcourse you will be laughing.

Minus the expense of setting up and running a shop, doesn't leave much.

yeh true it is illegal. but they wont know if its being sent for repair or not? I mean i dont expect the customs ppl to take out the ps3, go plug the damn thing in and check to see if it works or not its only illegal if you have a registered company in UK, paying taxes etc. but i have sent so many things to my cousins doing the underinvoice it has never troubled him.

ok fine if you dont underinvoice it it is still coming to $738.00 and if its for $900.00 in the shops you can still sell it at $800.00?? $62 profit on one ps3.

I went on the apple store in UK site. The stuff they selling there is DAMN EXPENSIVE.

Ipod shuffle £49 hehehhe £35 down where i m. yeh yeh yeh i know VAT and shipping charges lol. but even then if you order 10 you can still make a quite margin and then underinvoice it and pay for shipping which should come around £50.
