wii fits, is there really this demand?

i'm thinking about buying a few wii fits before christmas, but is there really all this demand?
-nintendo have said there won't be a shortage(i think)
-they are still avaliable in some shops.
-they are easily avaliable on this forum with 5 sellers having stock.
-They won't sell as much as the wii's last year for a few reasons:

-its not a console, its just a game.
- its a bit dear for just a game.(most children would rather have 2 top of the range games)

i'm not saying this is all true, just how i see it.
anyone have any evidence why there will be such a demand?(apart from everyone else seems to be buying them)

Theres quite a few threads on this already about is it worth buying some in. If you already have a business going is there much point just buying 5 to make just an extra 100 - 150?

The shops keep getting them in and selling out straight away no matter what price apparently - try buying one.

Obviously if thats what you think you should not purchase them. However, i think you ae wrong on all of the above.

A lot of people who didnt have a wii are buying wiis just to be able to us the wii fit. The wii fit is not just 1 game, not only does it come with the games on the dedicated wii fit disk but a lot of new games are compatable with the wii fit.

You also state that Nintendo said their will be enough stock. That may be the case but have a look how often Nintendo have said this about a popular item as christmas - Nintendo DS and the Nintendo Wii (and thats ignoring the Gameboys and the Nintendo 64s of a few years back).

How does Nintendo do it? Everything they bring out is a hit, despite being the most simplistic of ideas.

Yeah but it is very recently. Before the Nintendo DS and Wii they hadn't released anything new for quite a few years. the Gameboy Advance was released way back in 2001 (ok they released the SP couple years later but was effectively the same console). And there last crack at the big game consoles was GameCube and that was back in 2002!
